Sounds like a simple question right? Yet a question that causes pause for thought before jumping into the blogging world.
Perhaps you already have an idea in mind about the type of blog you want to create that has been rolling around in your head but there is still no clear understanding of the why. So ask yourself these simple questions:
- What is the driving force behind my idea?
- What will be my motivation?
- Do I have a strong conviction to do this?
- Will I be an occasional blogger?
- Can I commit to the work it takes to be a success at this?
Blogs are created at every moment of the day and there may still be a subject that has yet to be unturned. But even if so, it doesn’t stop people from trying.
There are thousands of blogs just sitting there, abandoned in the blogosphere that had and still might have great potential. Perhaps those individuals never asked the above questions before beginning.
Starting a blog requires a boatload of work and dedication.
Ask yourself the questions above and then pay attention to the answers you come up with.
Can you set aside enough time to not only write good content but time to do research on a subject as well? Then more time to spend honing your craft to become better at what you do. Keep these things in mind as you move closer to the idea of blogging.
And here are a few thoughts behind why so many others began the journey of blogging, do you see any of these reasons that might line up with your own plan?
- Money was a huge motivator – mainly to help support a family or pay off some debt.
- Their knowledge of a particular subject could help someone else going through the same issues.
- Freedom.
- Work from home.
- Work from anywhere in the world and be location independent.
- Help educate others.
- Share your own struggles with something that could benefit another person.
And the list goes on and on. But writing your ideas, answers and target down on a piece of paper to keep in front of you will certainly come in handy on those days your mind has shifted into another direction and you begin questioning yourself.
Read it often and be consistent and determined to finish the project you feel so committed to. Create awesome work!
