Were you aware that search engines crawl the content on websites and look for keywords? More importantly, what they are looking for are keywords and keyword phrases that are linked.
Listed below are three types of links that can be used inside your content as a linking strategy to build SEO.
- External Links – highlighting a keyword or keyword phrase and linking to someone else’s website or blog. Find sites with strong credibility and high domain authority. Link to strong blogs with valuable content. Make sure to set the link to open in a new window so you are keeping readers on your site.
- Anchor Links – this is when you link to areas within the same post, especially if the article is a long one. Best practice is to use these types of links near the beginning of the post so the search engines can pick it up sooner than later.
- Internal Links – link to areas within your site. It also helps the readers find other relevant info elsewhere on your site. Connecting dots in this way keeps readers longer on your site.
All things in moderation.
Don’t overload the content with too many links. Longer articles can have a few more but staying balanced is a good rule to follow.
